Altars are used by people of many faiths. The purpose of altars is to give honor and reverence to that which we feel is sacred. They are a wonderful way to create sacred space. They create an environment where we can relax and focus. They can be a place of healing, comfort and inspiration and they assist us in connecting with Goddess on many levels.
"I have several altars in my home, but my main altar has many purposes. I love to sit in meditation in front of it, perform ritual there, and sit comfortably in front of it and send healing to others. My main altar has a shelf beneath where I keep my healing crystals and other stones, as well as candles and incense supplies. When I am not using it as an altar space, I remove the candles and it is magically transformed into the great room coffee table." ~Danu GrayWolf
"My main altar is in my kitchen. Believe it or not... on top of the microwave. We rarely ever have use for the microwave, so at least it looks all pretty, lol! There's a great space in front of it to have working area and a nice drawer beneath it to hold random supplies. . It's located right where it can be seen from just about every major room- I love that contancy about it." ~ Nessa

This is my living room altar, where I do almost everything. I have an ancestral altar in another room. ~ Wren

On the right is a Himmelsbrief (Letter from Heaven) written by Pastor Chris Bilardi, for protection. On the left of the Virgin is a picture of LaMano Poderosa, "Powerful Hand", which depicts saints on each fingertip and surrounding it. I keep blessed water there always, and a candle lit as long as I'm present in the house, from morning until bedtime. I have a set up for "11 candles" work in my other room, where I keep 11 candles and a central candle going for specific issues, along with a picture or depiction of who I'm working for, along with the appropriate saint. The Pow Wow charm book on the left is used for "trying", when working on others during a healing session, along with a "holy stone" and a 1928 Scotia Bible.
